Description

A stunning decorative candle based on the Madonna of Bruges sculpture by Michelangelo. 

This sculpture depicts Madonna and a child and has similarities with Pieta. This is also the first sculpture by Michelangelo to leave Italy during his lifetime. In 1504, it was purchased by wealthy cloth merchants from Bruges, Belgium.

During World War II, the sculpture was smuggled to Germany in a Red Cross van. After the war, it was discovered and returned to Belgium, where it now sits in the Church of our Lady, Bruges.

A great way to bring a classical touch to any contemporary surroundings.
